Victorian Drinking Fountains

Beside the side gate at Victoria Place stands a little ironwork drinking fountain. This is one of four restored fountains located round the park. These fountains were installed in the late 19th century as a source of public drinking water and continued to operate as such until the late 1970s.

Note the metal bowl at the base. Water could be released into it so that dogs could take a drink too.
