Play Park

The play park is one of the most valued and best used of all the amenities in the public park. There has been a playground here for many years. It had fallen into decline by the 1980s, and was revived when Stirling District Council received play equipment from the Glasgow Garden Festival when it closed in 1988, and relocated it here.

The Kings Park Masterplan, approved by the Council in 2010, brought improvements to the footpaths and to the ground around the main pieces of equipment.

The play needs of children with disabilities were not addressed until 2018, when grant funding paid for inclusive play equipment. Improvements have continued since: the main structure was rebuilt in 2025 as a timber multi-tower system on a far larger scale — towers linked by walkways and bridges, a scramble rope bridge, climbing walls, a rung ladder, a fireman's pole and slides.

New play carpet and grass matting went down across the whole area at the same time, to give a consistent and softer surface underfoot. Familiar equipment remains alongside it, the swings among them.

The playground is fenced, which keeps dogs out.
