Peace of Mind Garden

The Peace of Mind Garden lies just beyond the pollinator border, at the quieter end of the community gardens.

The garden was created in the early 2000s with charitable funding and support from Friends of Kings Park, on sheltered ground within the community gardens, between the pollinator border and the play park. It was made as a tranquil place to sit — an attractive, calm environment planted with trees and flowers chosen to support biodiversity and wildlife. A hard path runs through it.

As well as the planting there are several benches, a distinctive black pergola, and a tiled interpretation panel set into the ground showing the metamorphosis of a butterfly. The garden fell into serious disrepair when it was shut through the pandemic, and it took Friends of Kings Park several years of work to bring it back. It is now home to a wide variety of shrubs and sensory plants, chosen for textures, scents and colours that give something across all the seasons.
